Majel Vs Siri : Google Vs Apple [ Woooow,...] - Rumours are abound that Google is to launch its rival to Apple’s voice assistant Siri in the coming weeks with the project currently codenamed Majel.
According to the Android and Me website, Majel is named after after Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the late actress who voiced the Federation Computer from Star Trek.
It will run as an upgrade of the Google Voice function already featured on Android devices. Instead of requiring specific commands to work, Majel will be compatible with more colloquial speech.
In a previous interview with Slash Gear, Google’s Matias Duarte had hinted as to the future of Google Voice stating, “Our approach is more like Star Trek, right, starship Enterprise; every piece of computing surface, everything is voice-aware. It’s not that there’s a personality, it doesn’t have a name, it’s just Computer.”
Whether or not Majel does turn out not to be a load of old baloney, you can expect Life Of Android to have all the latest news on Google Voice’s evolution.
