Apple’s Siri Soon To Be Challenged By Google’s Majel For Android

Apple’s Siri Soon To Be Challenged By Google’s Majel For Android - Apple’s Siri will soon be challenged by a Google-developed voice software called Majel for the Android mobile operating system.

The news comes via Android And Me which says that Majel is currently in the final stages of development.

If Google is finalizing its development of Majel, it only follows that the new voice input software may soon find its way to Android smartphones and tablet.

Regarding this, the report says that it’s looking as though Majel could be launched by Google towards the end of this year.

The publication’s Taylor Wimberly says that the people at “Google X are working around the clock on finishing the first release (of Majel) and the New York Times previously reported that one product would be released by Google X this year.

Majel will be more advanced that the fun but crude Iris which was released previously by a team of Android developers as an answer to Siri.

Majel is named after Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the voice of the Star Trek Federation Computer. Nonetheless, Majel is but a codename at the moment and it could or could not be the name of Google’s answer to Siri when it finally launches.

Nonetheless, the report also says that there is a possibility that Majel will be launched by January or February and not this year.
